Farm Action President Angela Huffman joined ABC News to explain why the Trump administration’s plan to import more beef to offset high beef prices would not address the root of the issue.
“The administration is treating beef imports like a quick fix for grocery prices, but more imports are not going to solve the real problem. And that is that: four meatpackers control 85% of U.S. beef processing; four grocery giants control more than two-thirds of the grocery market; and when those few companies control the entire supply chain, it’s essentially a monopoly. They do not have to pass savings onto consumers,” Huffman told ABC News.
