Farm Organizations Kick Off “Enough Is Enough Tour” As Farm Bill Looms

Today, 16 farm organizations kicked off the national Enough Is Enough Tour in protest of government policies that empower the largest food corporations to the detriment of farmers and ranchers.

Today’s event in Clearwater, Minnesota is the first of six events scheduled over the next month where farm groups will gather to call on Congress to deliver a farm bill that levels the playing field. Congressional members are invited and encouraged to attend a nearby event.

The tour takes place during a critical moment in the 2024 Farm Bill negotiations: The House and Senate recently released their farm bill framework proposals, and the full House bill text is expected by the end of this week ahead of the bill markup on May 23. The tour will highlight the need for the inclusion of vital legislation in the farm bill, like the Opportunities for Fairness in Farming Act to address corruption in government checkoff programs.

“We have a key window of opportunity this month to push for legislation to enact meaningful food system reform, such as the Opportunities for Fairness in Farming Act to reform corrupt checkoff programs,” said Angela Huffman, Vice President of Farm Action Fund, sponsor and organizer of the tour. “We urge members of Congress to attend the Enough Is Enough Tour events so they can hear directly from farmers on the ground, who are unable to bring their voices to Washington D.C. during prime planting and calving season.”

Enough Is Enough Tour events will take place across the country, hosted by grassroots and national organizations representing the interests of our nation’s food producers:

  • May 14 | Clearwater, MN | Hosted by American Grassfed Association and Thousand Hills Farm
  • May 22 | Osseo, WI | Hosted by Wisconsin Farmers Union
  • May 24 | Nicodemus, KS | Hosted by Kansas Black Farmers Association
  • May 29 | Columbiana, OH | Hosted by Buckeye Quality Beef Association, Ohio Farmers Union, and Pennsylvania Farmers Union
  • May 31 | Guntersville, AL | Hosted by Alabama Contract Poultry Growers Association, Competitive Markets Action, and the Organization for Competitive Markets
  • June 4 | Bismarck, ND | Hosted by Dakota Resource Council
